Many thanks for this great film. The archive deserves all our gratitude for preserving these wonderful treasures.

Just a small concern however. Why show this version which is not tinted and has a somewhat thrown together collation of classical music sometimes incongruously framing the action. Would it have been possible to get the rights to the new print with the Carl Davis score?

Very good! Liked it!
Can I go a bit off topic?
We had a silent-movie theater across the S.F. Bay from us and I used to go back in the day. Now, my wife and kids hate silent movies. I still love them. It's like reading a book where you have to pay strict attention, not be sleepy, and in a way you participate since you give your full attention, (hopefully), to the screen. A few espressos before the movie did the trick for me. The Wulitzer organ was fantastic! The guy cranked up the volume, (probably to wake up those not high on espresso). With a tub of buttered popcorn, a Dr. Pepper, (non-diet, -thank you very much!-), and a box of Crows or black licorice or a tube of Flicks...I was in move-viewing heaven! I saw many silent movies and really enjoyed the movies back then. Very satisfiying following a story, with solid character development, unlike most movies today. Yep. Good stuff. Not enough patrons to keep this move-house running. Eventually closed. Thanks for listening.

It's really easy to see how this movie launched Valentino into the spotlight and began his path to fame. I think I read somewhere that he often did all his own stunts (pretty amazing if you consider The Sheik and its horse-back fight scenes there too) and that always impressed me. He was such a well-rounded actor. Comedy, action, romance, drama. He could do it all. Thanks for the great upload!

Subject: Timeless & predictive
Excellent.IMO the biblical reference symbolized the evil deeds of humans perpetually & predicted retribution.

One day I'd like to come here and just see reviews on the files featured, not gratuitous comments on politics and religion.

Subject: Nice music, but...
Romeo and Juliette set to the rape of a young girl by soldiers? Not real fitting whoever did that..
The movie though is great. It's tough to turn away from.
I don't buy the Biblical references because it's used as the excuse for killing all to often and will continue on that way as long as humans continue to believe in imaginary beings controlling the cosmos and their daily lives.
As long as we believe that our souls are resurrected after death we'll keep on killing. Believe what you want, but it won't make it so just because someone said it was.
